ACARLAR WETLANDS – SAKARYA
Acarlar on the Black Sea coast of Sakarya is one of the most important wetlands of Turkey. It is a combination of seaside, lagoon, dunes and floodplain forest. Stretching over 7 km in length the ecosystem was formed by a separation from the Black Sea with 25 m high dunes.
It is a wildlife conservation area, home to several varieties of endemic flora and fauna, more than 150 species of trees and over 200 bird species.
