CHRISTMAS IN BRUSSELS

At the heart of Brussels with its picture-perfect Flemish Baroque buildings lies the Grand Place. This square, one of the most beautiful in the world, has had an open-air market as far back as the 11^th century. After the town hall was built at the end of the 15^th century, different guild houses were added around the square reflecting the city’s strength as a major European trading center.

And Christmas is when this ornate square puts on its best finery with light and sound shows and a magnificent tree traditionally taken from the Ardennes forest.
